Many newer vehicles use cameras and radar for features like lane keeping, adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking. When a part those systems rely on is disturbed or replaced, such as the windshield, a bumper or the suspension, the sensors need calibrating so the features work as they should.

Book this if

  • You had your windshield replaced
  • You had collision repair, or a bumper removed and refitted
  • You had a wheel alignment or suspension work
  • A driver-assist warning light is on, or features like lane keeping behave strangely

What's included

  • A scan of the driver-assist systems for faults
  • Calibration of cameras, radars and blind-spot sensors to the manufacturer's procedure
  • A check that the features work correctly afterwards

Good to know

  • Camera calibrations need lenses and the windshield free from cracks.
  • Tell us about any aftermarket wheels, suspension, parts or window tint. If there are any, we need a signed waiver.
  • Some static calibrations need a full tank of fuel. For a dynamic calibration we drive the vehicle on the road, so leave enough fuel for that.
  • Dynamic calibrations depend on the weather. If the appointment falls on a day with bad weather, it may need to be moved.

Questions

Does my vehicle have ADAS?

If it has lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking or blind-spot monitoring, it does. Ask us if you're not sure.

Why does it matter?

If a camera or sensor is aimed even slightly wrong, a safety feature can react late, or not at all. Calibration makes sure it sees the road the way it was designed to.
